The Sea Turtles will be visiting our local Egyptian treasure on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. It will give students a firsthand opportunity to see ancient artifacts from throughout Egypt. Please carefully read the information below, as it includes important details.
Date and Time
Wednesday, January 18, 2012
Leaving school at 10:00
Returning to school at approximately 1:15
Lunch
There is no need to bring a lunch on our field trip. We will be returning to school before Dartmouth's lunch break. Students should leave lunches in their lockers or purchase lunch from the cafeteria.
Permission Slips
Permission slips were sent home on Tuesday. Please completely fill out the form (all of the starred areas) and return it to school by Wednesday, January 11, 2012 with $20 (cash or check) to cover our transportation and admission costs. Checks should be made out to Dartmouth Middle School. If this creates a financial hardship, please let us know and pay what you can. If you would like to contribute extra to help someone else, your generosity is greatly appreciated.
What to Bring
Students should bring a jacket or sweater, as part of our time will be spent in the gardens outside the museum. They should also bring a sack lunch (or order one from the cafeteria by checking the appropriate box on the permission slip) and a hearty snack. Students eat their snacks before we leave school (lunch will be late so please be sure to send a hearty snack). We will eat lunch when we return to school. Because we will return after the normal lunch period, students will not be able to purchase a cafeteria lunch on the day of the field trip.
What Not to Bring
Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks, bags, or purses on the bus. Electronic games and related materials (as outlined in the DMS planner) are not allowed. We will NOT be visiting the gift shop, so it is unnecessary for students to bring money to the museum.
Website
Feel free to explore the museum's website to find out more about Egypt and artifacts that can be found at the Rosicrucian Museum. http://www.egyptianmuseum.org/
Chaperones
We would love to have you join us on the field trip. The museum requires us to have adult chaperones supervising the students at all times. Unfortunately, there is not enough room on the bus to accommodate additional adults. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to and from the museum. Directions will be provided on the morning of the field trip and carpooling will be encouraged (good for our environment and good for our community).
We're asking volunteers to meet in Mrs. Bailey's classroom (208) at 9:30 on January 18th. You'll be given a list of students, an overview of our trip, and directions to the museum.
